About

Place UK is set apart by its ability to deliver a complete, end-to-end service under one roof. The farm consists of 115 hectares of fruit and a further 230 hectares of arable land. With more than 70 years of experience across growing, manufacturing, retail and food service, the company has built a diverse platform that serves multiple industries and customer needs.

The product portfolio is broad, from frozen and fresh soft fruits, to pulses, grains, pasta and rice. This diversity not only strengthens resilience but also ensures Place UK remains a trusted and flexible partner. Alongside its core ranges, the company offers co-packing capabilities, supported by modern facilities and the expertise to deliver tailored solutions for customers.

The business comprises two core divisions:

  1. Soft Fruit Farming – The fruit is produced to the highest standards through their highly mechanised farms (some of the largest in England) and harvesting takes place at the flagship Church Farm in Tunstead, a hub that attracts people from far and wide to be part of the operations. With current revenues of c£17m, the business has experienced economic pressures over the last few years. Despite the economic pressures across this sector, the heritage, reputation and quality produce provide a strong platform on which to build.
  2. Food Processing – With revenues of around £20m, this division is well-positioned for growth, with its IQF fruit and pulse range closely aligned to consumer trends in the health and wellness food market. There is significant opportunity to expand product lines through new product development and deepen market penetration, alongside offering value-added and solutions led consultancy services — with ambitions to double revenues. The division’s processing plants have the capacity and capability to support this growth trajectory.

Together, these two divisions form the foundation of an exciting, ambitious growth journey for Place UK and the new Managing Director.

At the heart of Place UK’s success is a workforce of up to 630 dedicated individuals. Internationally recognised for their quality, reliability, and adaptability, the team forms the cornerstone of the business. Each year, seasonal workers are welcomed and supported with on-site accommodation at the ‘International Camp’, which offers a canteen, sporting facilities, a gym, and a shop — creating a vibrant international farm community. This accommodation is also utilised by other local food production businesses, such as Gressingham Ducks, to house their workers.
